Wildfire near Apple Valley fully contained; Body found in burned structure

APPLE VALLEY, Utah — Crews from multiple agencies are battling a wildfire not far from the Utah-Arizona border.

The Apple Fire is burning in dry brush and grass south of Highway 59 and two miles west of the town of Apple Valley.

The fire started Monday around 7:30 p.m. and had burned about 80 acres Tuesday morning; That estimate was later downgraded to 49.

Authorities later announced the fire was 100 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon.

Five homes were threatened and one structure burned.

An individual was found in the structure at the scene of the fire, according to Utah Fire Info. It appears he suffered a medical emergency and did not survive. The cause of death is under investigation.
