Rural Australian Fire Grows as Aerial Firefighting Effort Continues

FIREFIGHTERS have shared a video from the Goonoo Forest bushfire that is yet to brought under control.

Dozens of firefighters have been at the 264 hectare blaze, which is burning 30 kilometres north-east of Dubbo, since it ignited on Tuesday morning.

The video of the NSW Rural Fire Service’s (RFS) 737 Large Air Tanker was taken by firefighters on the ground.

This aircraft is a new addition to the NSW RFS aerial firefighting fleet and is stored at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base in Richmond when not on duty.

It can reach all parts of NSW within an hour. The 737 and its two lead planes support RFS crews on the ground by providing fast, flexible and effective firefighting options.
