Firefighters in Grand County worked Sunday to contain a blaze that sparked outside of Kremmling and sent plumes of smoke into the air.

The Black Mountain fire began just before 12:50 p.m. Sunday on Black Mountain off of Grand County Road 2 in the hills northeast of Kremmling, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. The fire is a few miles west of the 303-square-mile burn scar left by the East Troublesome fire, which killed two people last year and forced evacuations.

The Black Mountain fire covered 120 acres as of 4:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
