Forest service officials say all objectives met on Oak Grove Fire

U.S. Forest Service officials have shared what they said is their final update for the Oak Grove Fire in Dixie National Park.

They said on Sunday that all objectives have been met, and the Central Utah Type 3 team turned the fire back over to officials with the Dixie National Forest.

The fire first started on Aug. 29 by a campground on Pine Valley Mountain in Washington County. Authorities said it was caused by an unattended campfire.

The fire was 50% contained and at 696 acres as of Sept. 5.

“With no fire spread for several days and minimal internal fire activity, crews and engines are being released from the fire,” U.S. Forest Service members shared in a social post.
